Release notes — supplementary placement declarations
Sprint: 20261027_003 (PLC-7) Status: Pre-release; forward-only Release Orchestrator migration 017.
Summary
An administrator can now declare the managed placements (LICENSE Additional Use Grant section 2) that the automatic count does not detect, such as a workload the Installation gates or promotes but does not record. The placement read reports three counts: recorded (detected by the product), declared (the declarations in force) and total (their union: a placement both recorded and declared counts once).
What changes at upgrade
- Release Orchestrator migration 017 creates
release_orchestrator.declared_placements, empty. - The counts do not change at upgrade. Without declarations, the declared count is 0 and the total equals the recorded count.
- Platform’s placement usage status already uses the owner’s total when the owner reports one, so it now counts declared placements too.
After the upgrade
POST /api/v1/release-orchestrator/estate/placements/declarationsdeclares one placement of the calling tenant (environmentId, optionalenvironmentName, workload, mandatoryreason).POST /api/v1/release-orchestrator/estate/placements/declarations/withdrawwithdraws a declaration (environmentId,workload, mandatoryreason). The record stays, and the pair can be declared again.- Both need
orch:operateand are audited. Neither changes deployments, the deployed estate, the placement ledger or evidence. stella estate placementsprints the total with the recorded and declared counts and marks each placementrecorded,declaredorrecorded+declared.- While coverage of the detection signals is incomplete,
definitivestaysfalse: the total holds only what the product detected and what an administrator declared.
Operator action
Declare each managed workload that GET /api/v1/release-orchestrator/estate/placements does not show, with the environment id the read reports. Withdraw a declaration when its management ends or when the product records the placement itself.
See the Release Orchestrator dossier, Managed placement (licence count).
