Components from the Stella Ops platform

The API gateway and the workflow engine that run inside Stella Ops, for .NET teams that want them without the release control plane.

Not released yet: no component package has been published. This page states the licence terms and prices adopted for the components.

Stella Ops Router

An API gateway for .NET microservices. Services register with the gateway over a pluggable transport (TCP, TLS, UDP, RabbitMQ or messaging) instead of being addressed as HTTP hosts. Rate limits apply per environment, per microservice and per route.

The microservice SDK and the client side of the transports are licensed under the Apache License 2.0. The gateway, the server side of the transports and the rate-limiting packages are licensed under the Stella Ops Router licence.

  • Free production use up to 500 endpoints per installation, with any number of microservices. An endpoint is an HTTP method and a path template, counted once across the installation.
  • Above 250 endpoints the gateway writes a warning in its log. It keeps routing: it never refuses a request and makes no network call for licensing.
  • Above 500 endpoints: $250 per year for each started block of 250 endpoints above 500. A timely renewal costs $125 per block. There is no monthly price.

Router examples

Per installation, in US dollars, excluding tax; the renewal assumes every block is renewed.

600$250$125
1,000$500$250
2,000$1,500$750

Stella Ops Workflow

A workflow engine for long-running business processes: workflow definitions, signals, scheduled steps, dead-letter handling and rendered process diagrams, on PostgreSQL or MongoDB.

  • Free production use up to 50 workflows per installation, counted cumulatively: every workflow ever designated for production use counts, and retiring one does not lower the count. Versions of a workflow do not count.
  • Calling an installation development, test or staging does not exempt its production use. Non-production use needs no order.
  • Above 25 workflow names the engine writes a warning in its log. It never refuses a workflow and makes no network call for licensing.
  • Above 50 workflows: $250 per year for each started block of 25 workflows above 50. A timely renewal costs $125 per block. There is no monthly price.

Licence and orders

  • Each component is licensed under the Business Source License 1.1 with an Additional Use Grant: free production use within the limits above, for your own applications and business processes, including services your customers use.
  • Running a component as a hosted or managed service for third parties' own workloads is outside the free grant and needs an order that authorises it.
  • Embedding a component in a commercial product you deliver to your customers costs nothing; it needs a no-fee order for each end-customer installation.
  • An order comes with a signed licence file for its lines. The components read it offline and only inform: they never refuse, never stop working and never contact us. Logs, status output and the Workflow's rendered diagrams show “Licensed to” and the name on the file. Free use needs no licence file.
  • Prices are in US dollars and exclude tax. The Stella Ops platform keeps its own licence and prices.

No component order is taken yet. Questions: sales@stella-ops.org.
